Chapter 7: Bathing at the Inn

At night, Elle and I were in a room at an inn. After scouting our workplace for tomorrow, we returned back to the adventurer's guild where we asked the receptionist, a lady named Sela, for recommended lodging.

She told me that this inn is affiliated with the guild, so registered adventurers could stay for a slightly lower price. Sela also recommended a good restaurant, so we had dinner before checking into the inn.

I ordered sautéed chicken, vegetable soup, and bread. It was my first time trying food from another world.

The spices were a bit unique and the salt was a little light, but it wasn't at the level of being unpleasant. I was able to eat it quite deliciously.

By the way, I learned that Elle can basically survive as long as she drinks water, so she was satisfied with just a little of my meal.

The dinner cost three copper coins. It was my first experience with currency exchange in another world. I took out all the coins that were in the small bag again.

There are 42 copper coins and 4 silver coins. I had used 3 copper coins in the restaurant earlier and 5 copper coins at the inn, so there must have originally been 50 copper coins in the bag.

I had also bought daily necessities and clothes in this world, and had used one silver coin for it. Elle taught me that the currency unit on this continent is called "Maru".

One Maru is equivalent to one copper coin. Ten copper coins becomes one silver coin, and ten silver coins become one gold coin.

From what I felt when looking at shops and having meals, one maru seemed to be worth a few hundred to a thousand yen (a few to ten US dollars) in value, but it is just a rough estimate because the prices were different from Japan.

Including the lodging fee, it seemed like I would need about one silver coin a day to survive in this world.

However, even though tomorrow's job is a half-day job from morning until noon, the income is only six copper coins. If I continue to spend money at the same pace, I will be in the red soon enought.

It might be better to ask for another job in the afternoon. I have to go to the workplace before three bells ring tomorrow.

I heard the bell ring a few times while wandering outside. Subjectively, it seemed to be about once every two hours. At least, I felt like there was an hour or more between the ringing bells.

If only I had a smartphone, I could measure the time accurately. Unfortunately, the smartphone was in my bag and left in the classroom. If I had known this, I should have worn a watch.

"I wonder if I can wake up early tomorrow…" I was anxious about waking up early without an alarm. If I were late for my first job, it would make a very bad impression.

"Then, you can leave it to Elle?"

"Elle?"

"That's right. Fairies don't sleep," Elle said with confidence.

"I see."

"That's why I want hero-sama to sleep soundly without any worries!" Elle said proudly with her puffed out chest. Although she has some quirks here and there, she is still helpful.

Without Elle, I would have felt even more

"W-What's wrong? It's only natural for Elle to be helpful to hero-sama! If you thank me, it’ll make me embarrassed," Elle said, scratching her head and blushing. She was embarrassed even though I only thanked her a little.

"No, I learned a lot from you today. I’m truly grateful," I said.

"Fufufu... El has never been spoken to in such a way before! Hero-sama really is a kind person," she replied.

"Is that so? Come to think of it, what kind of relationship did Elle have with Elle’s Master?"

"Eh? Elle and Master...?"Elle looked at me with teary eyes but quickly turned blank as she looked up into the sky, "I...I can't remember Master. I can't even remember anything before meeting Master. Sob...sob...sob!"

Elle began to cry. Perhaps this meant she has lost her memories. However, it seems it’s better not to ask for details at the moment.

"Ah, it's okay! If you can't remember, it's okay! It's better not to force yourself to remember, right?"

"Is that so? Then it's okay," Elle said, her expression changing once again. It is convenient that she doesn’t keep things to her heart for long, but are all fairies like this, or is it just Elle's unique personality?

"Oh, Hero-sama, can you put some water in that bucket over there?" Elle asked brightly, pointing to a metal bucket that had been placed nearby as if the previous conversation never happened.

I poured some water into the bucket from the water jug. However, Elle suddenly took off her clothes without drinking any water. She was only wearing a red dress, which meant that she is now completely naked.

"Fairies like to bathe in water," she said.

"Oh, Oh," I replied.

I was speechless at the sight before me. Elle is certainly cute, but only in a mascot character kind of way as a fairy, and I have never thought of her as a woman.

However, the body of Elle in front of me is no different from that of a human, with wings on her back being the only exception.

The tips of her small, protuded chest has pale pink nipples, and the cleft between her legs has a visible crevice. In other words, I am seeing the naked body of a living woman other than my family for the first time.

"Why are you staring at Elle like that, Hero-sama?" Elle asked.

"Huh, ah..."

"Come to think of it, hero-sama said there are no fairies in the hero-sama's world. Are fairy bodies rare one for you? If so, you can look more!" Elle said, rotating her body in the air. She puffed out her chest and shook her butt, and I just stared at her in awe.

"Oh? What's wrong with hero-sama again?" Elle asked.

"Again?"

I suddenly looked down at my crotch. What on earth... it has gotten plump again. "S-Sorry!" I held my sticking crotch and turned around.

"Hero-sama?"

"I-I'm going to take a bath! Elle, take a bath while I'm gone," I said as I rushed out of the room, waiting for the second plumpness to subside before heading to the bath.
